Commander Foundry decks are not static lists frozen at a single moment in time. Each build is the result of deliberate iteration, play experience, and refinement, with the goal of producing Commander decks that feel cohesive, intentional, and resilient at the table.

Rather than treating deck construction as a one-time exercise, Commander Foundry approaches each build as a living system—tested, evaluated, and improved through continued play.

Built Through Iteration

Every Commander Foundry deck begins with a clearly defined strategic core. Early versions establish the commander’s role, mechanical identity, and primary game plan. From there, the list evolves through repeated play, observation, and adjustment.

Iteration focuses on:

Improving consistency and sequencing

Refining card roles and redundancy

Strengthening interaction and recovery lines

Removing inefficiencies that only surface through real gameplay

Changes are made intentionally, not reactively. Cards earn their place through performance and synergy rather than theory alone.

From Brew to Core Build

Not every deck begins as a finished product.

Some lists are introduced as New Brews—early-stage builds with a stable foundation that are still being refined. These decks represent emerging archetypes and mechanical frameworks that have been structured intentionally but have not yet reached their final form.

As a deck matures through continued play and refinement, it may graduate into a Core Build. Core Builds represent lists that have reached a stable, polished state, where each card inclusion serves a deliberate role in the overall strategy.

This progression reflects the same process many experienced Commander players follow organically—formalized and applied consistently.

Ongoing Review and Refinement

Commander Foundry decks are evaluated on a recurring basis rather than left unchanged indefinitely. This allows builds to respond to gameplay patterns, newly released cards, and identified opportunities for improvement.

Not every deck changes every month, but each deck is reviewed with the same standards in mind: clarity of purpose, mechanical cohesion, and reliable performance across games.
