Deck Overview
This build operates as a graveyard value and land recursion engine. Self-mill from Stitcher’s Supplier, Hedron Crab, Buried Alive, and Diviner of Mist establishes a stocked graveyard early. From there, recursion pieces such as Meren of Clan Nel Toth, Eternal Witness, Timeless Witness, Phyrexian Reclamation, and The Soul Stone ensure continual access to key creatures and spells.
Land recovery through Teval, Life from the Loam, Lumra, Bellow of the Woods, and Afterlife from the Loam transforms the graveyard into an extension of the mana base, enabling consistent development and repeated landfall triggers.
Graveyard Movement and Value Conversion
Cards leaving the graveyard generate tangible advantage across multiple axes. Teval produces Zombie Druids, while Kheru Goldkeeper converts that same movement into Treasure tokens. Selective delve from Dig Through Time and broader reanimation effects like Dread Return, Reanimate, and Living Death turn accumulated graveyard resources into decisive board states.
The engine is designed so that even routine recursion advances overall board presence.
Land Scaling and Board Presence
Repeated land entry supports scaling threats such as Avenger of Zendikar, Scute Swarm, Ob Nixilis, the Fallen, and Multani, Yavimaya’s Avatar. These cards convert incremental land advantage into measurable pressure. Even single land returns can shift combat math, while larger recursion turns create substantial battlefield swings.
This structure allows the deck to scale naturally into the mid and late game without overcommitting.
Interaction and Control
Efficient interaction maintains stability while the engine develops. Abrupt Decay, Beast Within, Culling Ritual, and Deadly Rollick provide flexible removal, while Counterspell, Swan Song, and Fierce Guardianship protect critical turns. Rhystic Study sustains card flow, reinforcing the deck’s incremental approach rather than relying on burst draw alone.
The interaction suite is integrated into the broader value plan, ensuring defensive plays do not slow overall progression.
Closing the Game
The deck closes through cumulative advantage. Token generation, recurring threats, landfall armies, and mass reanimation collectively overwhelm opposing boards. Zulaport Cutthroat adds additional inevitability as creatures cycle through the graveyard, converting attrition into life-total pressure.
Once established, the engine becomes difficult to exhaust, allowing the deck to transition from incremental development to decisive board control.
Build Philosophy
This list is constructed for cohesion, resilience, and repeatable performance. The mana base supports smooth Sultai sequencing, recursion effects are layered for redundancy, and interaction is selected for flexibility within the graveyard framework. Every inclusion reinforces the central engine rather than operating in isolation.
